Rare Earth Oxide CeO2 Decorated Graphene Nanoplatelets-Reinforced 2024 Aluminum Alloy Matrix Composites Fabricated by Pressure Sintering Process

In this study, graphene nanoplatelets (GNPs) decorated rare earth oxide CeO2 (CeO2@GNPs) were synthesized by alcohol thermal reaction method and used to reinforce GNPs/2024Al composites fabricated a pressure sintering process. The results indicated that the decorating particles could further promote dispersion of GNPs as well binding matrix. As result, as-prepared 0.5 wt.% CeO2@GNPs/2024Al exhibited yield strength tensile increased 21.1% 24.7% compared these matrix, respectively. It is better than mechanical values composite enforced with raw same quality. optimization dispersibility interfacial bonding Al matrix promotes its effective role in load-bearing strengthening.
